I love this beautiful North Vancouver family of three. Capturing their “First 48” and visiting their home for a Newborn Photography Session was special to me, because I know this couple well.
Mike is one of my husband’s besties. So, when they invited me to photograph their first child, I was super excited.
Bonnie wasn’t very mobile, as she had an emergency c-section, and was on orders to rest her body. So, we kept the hospital session simple, and focused on true to life moments – like Bonnie holding Cruz in his hospital blanket, and Mike joining them in his scrubs.
Our at home newborn session was a bit of a struggle the first time around, so I returned when Mom and baby were settled. Postponing worked well for all of us – as I was feeling a little unwell that day too.
It’s so cute when Dads get involved in the newborn session, and Mike was a natural.
Sports are important to Mike’s family, and he can’t wait to share his hometown sport scene with his son. With pride Mike held little Cruz over his shoulder, as he wore his favourite Seattle Mariner’s Jersey — CRUZ, No. 23.
I adored the way Bonnie’s eyes lit up when she looked at her new baby boy, and I’m so happy to have captured those moments, too. I’m excited to report that strong and athletic Bonnie is on the mend, and family life is going well for Bonnie, Mike and little Cruz.
