Amie & Dallas had a beautiful elegant, low-key, navy & gold wedding, and we had the pleasure of capturing their Swaneset wedding photography & cinematography.
Amie & Dallas are both civil engineers living up in Fort McMurray. We initially met via Skype, and when they came down to do some more wedding planning we later met up in person for a quick breakfast. They’re just the sweetest couple that loves to travel, and scuba dive and full of laughter always.
We started off their wedding day at Vivid Hair Boutique Amie and the girls all got ready, and was just a short walk from the Sandman Signature Hotel where they were all staying. The couple exchanged gifts and hand written love notes. (Check out the video for this… It’s a tear jerker!)
Everyone made their way to the beautiful Swaneset Resort and Country Club, where the theme was really just an elegant low-key navy blue decor. It was so simple and lovely. All the tables were named after some of Dallas & Amie’s favourite activities; like Scuba-diving, which is a big passion of theirs.
The girls helped Amie get dressed, and everyone all around was in high spirits despite the heat.
If you’re looking for a big entrance, the “Grand Aisle Walk” from the club house to the terrace is pretty epic! Amie & Dallas opted for the tradition route, and did not see each other until Amie was walking down the aisle arm in arm with her mom and dad. The celebrant included a really great personal note that was “from” the couples dogs. It was super sweet, and a great way to end the wedding ceremony!
After the ceremony, we spent some time getting great family photos, followed by couple shots. This was the first time Amie & Dallas got to have a moment to themselves, and they were just beaming! Amie was stunning, and radiant and glowing with love and happiness. When we asked them what was the one thing that was most important aspect of the day to them, they said “Our love”.
Their entire reception was full of love and laughter, and lots of inside jokes. Each member of the wedding party got up, a few in pairs (which cuts down on speeches time, helps with nerves, and just a plan great idea), and gave really touching recollections about how Amie and Dallas had touched their lives. Amie’s parents, who live in Malaysia, brought with them a special gift all the way from Malaysia; handmade and engraved pewter goblets, with which they toasted to their marriage.
Amie & Dallas had their first dance to “Hey Pretty Girl” by Kip Moore. I’m not a country music fan, but this song totally got stuck in my head for a week after their wedding! It was a great first dance song, and Amie and Dallas looked so happy!
Afterwards Amie and her dad had the most energetic father/daughter dance, I’ve ever experience. They we moving all over the dance floor, twirling, swinging… You could tell that Amie and her dad had spent many a nights dancing together. It was so much fun to photograph.
Thank you Amie & Dallas for being SUCH a pleasure to photograph. Your love for each is magnetic!
